CREATE A NEW FRESH iPHONE DISPLAY!

One night while I was laying in bed I was scrolling thru Pinterest and saw an article called "How To Customize Your iPhone App Icons & Make Your Home Screen Pretty". To see full article click here
It was that moment when I realized I would forego my slumber for that evening to design my phone home screen to what I had visioned in my head....Now just to learn how to actually do it.
In this blog I will share with you some tips and resources that helped me out! It did take some time, but as you can see below, my end result is organized and in a color palette I like. I wish I would have taken a "before" picture, my phone was very disorganized and I didn't know where 1/2 of my apps were most of the time.

First I had to find what pictures I was going to use for my icons. I ended up going to Esty and purchasing a whole package for $1.99. This just seemed easier that finding them all for free on my own. Once I purchased I just downloaded all of the pictures I was going to use onto my phone. I bought mine through AYxSTUDIOS. They have a huge variety of different colors and styles. Below are a few of what they offer!
After I found my icon style I wanted to use I searched Google for my background. I typed in "boho aesthetics" and found the watercolor greenery you see above. I changed my background to see what the first icon would look like and I liked the result. You can always come back and change your background to make it fit once you'r completed.

To change a background:

Next I went on to watch Jami Swans YouTube Video How To Customize Your iPhone Home Screen Aesthetic | iOS 14. I had watched a couple of other videos but she really does give great step by step instructions. And they include the following:

STEP ONE-
Download the new iOs 14 system (this was introduced in late 2020)- may take up to 30-60 minutes to download.

STEP TWO-
You will want to edit your home screen and move everything to the app library. This will give you a blank canvas to work with and create all of your new icon shortcuts. To do this, you will click on an app until it gets "shaky" here you will click "Move to library". You will do this for every app, which is a great opportunity to clean out your phone and get rid of some apps you never use. If you no longer use it simply hit "delete" and move on.

STEP THREE-
This is where your vision will come to life! You now have you blank canvas and start to create icon shortcuts and adding your custom pictures to the shortcut. Now bear with me, this is the part that almost had me regret what I had started. It seemed like SO much work and I knew for sure I was going to mess up. After a couple of times of creating short cuts, I knew what needed to be clicked when and the process went a lot faster. Be patient with yourself!
In this step I did one page at a time. As you can see from the photos above of my finished home screen I have all of the main apps I use on the first screen and dedicated the second page to my fitness apps.
To create short cut you do as follows:
Go to shortcuts app
< click “+”
< click “add action”
< click “scripting”
< click “open app”
< click “choose” – here you will choose which app you would like to make the shortcut for.
< click “...” the three dots in right hand corner
< click “add to home screen”
< click “photo” and then add, here you will choose a photo either you bought and saved to your phone or another photo you have saved in your phone.
< Name your short cut

Now REPEAT until you have all of the icons on your main screens that you want to use- this seems like a lot of work but once you do your first couple you will memorize the process and it will go a lot faster!

Remember- all of your apps will be available in the app library no matter if you make them a short cut or not!

I hope this information is helpful! Would love to hear how you changed your home screen in the comments!
